It was announced on the North American market on the 27/2/07. The Sony DSC-W80 was initially targeted at a retail price of 244in the US, considered affordable for such a camera. It can also be set at a lower resolution of 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536, 640 x 480. The sensor on the Sony DSC-W80 is a CCD which measures 1/2.5 " having a RGB color filter. Sony implemented a digital zoom on the DSC-W80 and also added an internal flash being very common in new cameras . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the object is 50 cm.
The min. shutter speed of the Sony DSC-W80 is 1 seconds while the maximum shutter speed is 1/1600 seconds. Movies are supported in this model which is always a useful function. The Sony DSC-W80 camera has an internal storage of 31 mb and can be extended with external storage by using Memory Stick Duo / Pro Duo + Internal. The LCD screen available on the DSC-W80 diagonally measures 2.5". A video output is available letting you see your pictures on television. Connection to a computer is available through USB.
