Sony impresses with its new conception, the Sony DSC-W170 which is an exciting camera and supposed to set new standards in the market! It was unveiled in North America on the 23/1/08. You can also set it at a lower resolution of 3648 x 2432, 3648 x 2056, 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536, 1920 x 1080, 640 x 480. The lens's sensor of the DSC-W170 is a CCD of dimensions 1/2.3 " using a RGB color filter. Sony added a digital zoom on its DSC-W170 and also added an internal flash being very common in new cameras . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the main subject is 10 cm.

The minimum shutter speed (min. exposition to light) on the DSC-W170 was set at 1 seconds and the maximum shutter speed is 1/1600 seconds. The movie mode is supported in this model being a very useful function. The Sony DSC-W170 has an internal memory of 15 mb extendable with external storage with Memory Stick Duo / Pro Duo + Internal. The LCD screen of the DSC-W170 is measuring 2.7 ". A video out plug exists letting you see your pictures on television. A USB connection is furnished to connect to a computer.
