Sony arrives this year with its new model, the Sony DSC-P51 which is a very exciting camera and setting new standards in the camera industry! It was shown on the North American market on the 20/2/02. The Sony DSC-P51 has been launched at a price of 300in the US, considered affordable for such a camera. This nice little piece of technology measures 127 x 58 x 47 mm and weights 275 g. The DSC-P51 delivers a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200. It also supports a lower resolution of 1280 x 960, 640 x 480. The image ratio on the Sony DSC-P51 is 4:3, 3:2, making a camera of 1.9 mega pixels. The internal sensor on the DSC-P51 is a CCD measuring only 1/2.7 " having a RGB color filter.

Sony implemented a digital zoom on the DSC-P51 and included an internal flash being a standard in nowadays cameras . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the object is 8 cm. The minimum shutter speed on the DSC-P51 is 2 seconds while the maximum shutter speed is 1/1000 seconds. The Sony DSC-P51 has an internal memory of 16 mb extendable by using Memory Stick. The LCD screen available on the DSC-P51 is measuring 1.6 ". A video output is available allowing you to watch your favorite pictures on television.
